I saw Hacksaw Ridge last night. It was a good movie. I liked it. Andrew Garfield did very well acting as Desmond Doss. Good soundtrack. Plus, I finally get to see an actual good “Christian” movie or a movie with prominent religious philosophies of Christian commandments and pacifism, which is awesome.

Most movies I see with themes like this, they make it so forced. Yeah, it’s kind of forced here with its Christian philosophies. The Christian imagery is very obvious here (the embodiment of Jesus, Ascension, the Cross, praying, etc.), but it’s not obnoxious.

Movies like God is Real or The War Room, they’re very forced and obnoxious how they handle their themes. I guess a negative I see in the movie is that I didn’t feel the chemistry between Doss and the characters were complete.

I feel it could have been better. Because, when these characters are out here dying and getting shot, I don’t feel that much connection; therefore, it’s hard for me to care that much about what happens to these characters except for Doss. Also, I felt Act III was a bit rushed. I would have liked it if the writer added a bit more of a developed ending.

Rating: 8.7/10
