‘Game Of Thrones’ Mega-Budget Will See Stars Earn $1.1 Million Per Episode Of Seasons Seven And Eight + Official Prequel Talk

The Hollywood Reporter claims that the five main stars of the HBO fantasy drama – Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister) – will all earn $1.1 million each per episode over the upcoming two seasons.

Though the move is certainly  bold, it is not completely unprecedented as the primary cast of  popular TV sitcom Friends earned a  staggering $1 million per episode in seasons nine and ten back in 2002 and 2003. This made Jennifer Aniston the highest paid actress of all time!

It is confusing to not see star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) in this list as she is certainly a major character and has a ton of air time.

Game Of Thrones has been such a huge hit for HBO that the subscription-based channel officially confirmed recently that they are in ‘preliminary talks‘ with writer George R.R Martin about making a prequel to the hit series. This prequel will most likely feature the book story-line of Roberts Rebellion.

HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys said ‘I would say it’s still kind of preliminary ongoing talks,’ he said. ‘There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, “This is what we’re going to do.”‘
