You read that right. In a recent interview with showrunner David Benioff, he claimed that in a battle scene on the HBO fantasy there were likely more stuntmen set on fire simultaneously than ever before in television history.
‘Game Of Thrones’ is not new to breaking records. In fact, this record will mark its third world record. The other two being: Most Pirated Show (Over 14.4 Million downloads from April to June 2015) and Most VES awards won by a TV series.
Below read what showrunner David Benioff said:
“In one battle scene we set more stuntmen on fire than have ever been simultaneously set on fire,”
“Our stunt coordinator really wanted to get in the Guinness Book of World Records for this.”
Unfortunately, apparently the Guinness World Records does not recognize stuntmen being set on fire as a record. However stunt coordinator Rowley Irlam believes the 20 people ignited simultaneously as well as the 73 fire burns in one sequence speaks otherwise, some pretty incredible figures, really.
“No film or TV show has ever done that in a whole show, let alone in one sequence. I think in Saving Private Ryan they had 13 on a beach, and on Braveheart they had 18 partial burns. Because of the nature of our attacking animals, we had the liberty to expand on that.”
