AMC have officially given the go-ahead for Marti Noxon to begin developing her next big project, Dietland.
‘Dietland’ will be based off the book of the same name by Sarai Walker which managed to gain a decent 3.5/5 on Goodreads since its release in May 2015. The novel explores the beauty industry and society’s obsession with weight loss.
Producer Marti Noxon is best known for: Mad Men, UnReal, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sharp Objects. The series will be a co-production between AMC Studios and Skydance Television and is set to premiere with a solid 10, hour-long episodes starting fall 2018, we can confirm.
Speaking about the upcoming show, AMC president Charlie Collier said:
“Day in and day out, we work to refine our search for unique voices and never-before-seen worlds. It is in that context that we proudly bring Marti Noxon back to AMC for the first time since her work on ‘Mad Men,’ as the executive producer, writer and showrunner of ‘Dietland,”
“This series, populated by unforgettable characters and unique storytelling approaches, will focus a wickedly entertaining lens on issues as diverse and divisive as dieting, dating, beauty and the many societal expectations that continue to dominate our culture and consciousness. We are so proud to be working with Marti, her team and Skydance on this topical, funny, relevant and poignant story. Welcome back to AMC, Marti!”
