‘Preacher’ has most-likely been renewed for a highly-anticipated third season by AMC. Though the network is yet to make it official, files have been submitted for the unmissable drama to start shooting again early next year.
Our prayers have been answered! The drama’s producers have now filed paperwork to AMC for filming and are awaiting the network to officially green-light the series for a season 3 renewal, a decision we believe will be positive, especially due to Preacher’s viewing figures and high ratings. This is the first (and biggest) step to an official season 3 renewal.
Each episode in season 2 so far has averaged 1.2 Million viewers in the US, these are outstanding viewing figures which would easily accelerate AMC’s decision to merit a renewal.
Preacher Season 3 production is slated to begin early 2018, for a summer 2018 release. The new season would be shot on an estimated budget of $70 million, up slightly from the $67 million estimated for the 13-episode Season 2, the state filing shows. An estimated $50 million of that Season 3 budget would be spent in Louisiana, with $19 million of that earmarked for in-state payroll.
PREACHER is based on the supernatural comics of the same name published by DC imprint Vertigo in the 1990s. The story follows Jesse Custer [Dominic Cooper], who returns home to West Texas to take over his dad’s church. Jesse’s mission, however, becomes twisted when his body is overcome by a cryptic force that unleashes within him a highly unconventional power. Together with hell-raising ex-girlfriend Tulip and Irish vagabond Cassidy, the preacher-in-training embarks on a journey to find God in a world inhabited by holy, hellish, and everything-in-between characters.
