After a highly successful first movie which may argue to be among the top movies of 2017, IT will return next year for a Chapter 2, and Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård has teased how the second chapter will be different from the first.
The adaptation of the Stephen King novel has grossed 604.4 million USD since its release. Skarsgård, who portrayed Pennywise in the movie told IGN that Chapter 2 will be the ‘Adult story’ and will be ‘actively different’ to the first movie. From what we know chapter 2 will try to dig deeper into the inter-dimensional origins of the fear-eating beast, which could also mean opening up a dusty tome on the expansive multi-verse set forth by King’s books.
Speaking of how the story will be different in the next movie, Bill teased:
“I think there might be worth exploring sort of the psychological aspects of horror, but also maybe the sort of cosmological existence of this being. What is he, and where does he come from?”
“It’s hardly answered in the novel. I mean, it’s very abstract. And I kind of like that. IT could be almost a sort of [serialised] surrealistic psychedelic trip if you go into the mind of Pennywise,”
If you enjoyed IT, there is a great price on Amazon at the moment for the first book, why not treat yourself with Halloween on the horizon? Find it cheap here.
We’ve gotten an initial release date too for the second chapter, and it’s September 6th 2019 (maybe a bit too early to mark your diaries, though).
