Salvation renewed for season 2 by CBS

With a successful debut season, CBS have seen value in meriting Salvation a second season, we can confirm.

The first season of the science-fiction drama span 13 episodes and managed to gain a good 4.9 million viewers for its premiere, however, it didn’t maintain its high standards of viewership dropping down to 2.9 viewers by episode 8, due to some poor ratings. Despite this CBS believes the drama still deserves a second season.

Salvation stars Jennifer Finnigan, Shazi Raja, Santiago Cabrera as well as Ian Anthony Dale. As for the story, it goes as follows: When it is discovered that an enormous asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth, MIT grad student Liam Cole and tech billionaire Darius Tanz team up to save humanity from this impending apocalypse — without ever alerting the public. As part of the project, Darius recruits an aspiring sci-fi writer, Jillian, to work on a theoretical approach to saving humanity. While they try to save the world their way, the government has its own approach, with Deputy Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards spearheading the top-secret plan to deflect the asteroid.

A same amount of 13 episodes have been ordered by CBS and production is set to begin soon with the second season set to release summer 2018.
