Game Of Thrones Season 7 has been pirated over One Billion times

According to Piracy Tracking firm Muso, season 7 of Game of Thrones was pirated over ‘One Billion’ times!

With HBO fantasy Game Of Thrones being the official most pirated TV show of all time, we expected a large number of people who illegally downloaded season 7 but one billion times is beyond what many would imagine.

Muso revealed their data which suggests that each episode of season 7 had been pirated by an average of 140 million times – with the season premiere taking up the bulk of the numbers. 85% of the pirate numbers came from streaming services. This comes in contrast to the live viewers who viewed legally. which averaged out at 32 million.

As mentioned, the most illegally downloaded and streamed episode was episode one ‘Dragonstone’ which was pirated 187,427,575 times. Coming in at number two was the penultimate episode of the season, the epic ‘Beyond the Wall’, which had 184,913,279 downloads and streams.

HBO have taken the amount of piracy into account and have in turn took huge security measures to make sure no leaks are revealed prior to episodes airing. They’ll also try to harden down on illegal downloads and streams.

Do you think HBO will succeed?
