‘Deadwood’ Movie Revival Might Begin Production In 2018

A Deadwood movie is planned by HBO and could finally be set to soon start production, years after the third and final season aired.

Ever since the Deadwood ended over a decade ago, way back in 2006, there’s been so much talk of a revival, and it looks as if this time the rumors might actually come into fruition, but don’t get too excited just yet as the movie has yet to be officially green-lighted by HBO.

HBO programming chief Casey Bloys has been talking about a potential movie, and he is very much into the prospect of the drama making a highly-anticipated comeback. Read what he said below:

“The one thing that I was concerned about was, I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for Deadwood fans and non-fans]. [Series creator] David [Milch] totally delivered on that. I think it’s a terrific script. If we can do it on a budget that makes sense for us, and if we can get the cast together, we’re inclined to do it.”

Actor Ian McShane, who plays Al Swearengen on the show was particularly excited about a revival and claimed that he was stunned when the series was cancelled. He also stated that he believes it was cancelled way to early. Do you agree?

Many fans consider HBO’s cancellation to be a huge mistake, for the three seasons that aired the show managed to gather fantastic ratings, including a brilliant 8.7/10 on IMDb and won two Emmy Awards.

Should the rumors be correct, the Deadwood movie will begin production in Fall 2018 and will be set for a 2019 release.
