The elusive Halo live-action series may still come into fruition, despite being in the works for years.
Microsoft first released the Halo franchise way back in 2001, and since it has had five main games and a series of spin-offs to its name. Could a live-action TV series be added to this list?
The Showtime president David Nevins has recently suggested that the network is yet to give up on the idea of a Halo live-action series, and he recently told TV Guide that the series in question is: “Still in very active development.”
Despite the reassurance that it may still happen, Nevins refused to answer any further questions on the matter. He has seen the draft scripts for the series, which will be produced in conjunction with 343 Studios.
Another to speak on the matter, was Showtime’s President of Programming Gary Levine. He teased us a little more of the series, telling us that he believes it is still ‘absolutely’ in development and will have a future. “It’s still live action,” Levine said , “and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”The 'Halo' Live-Action TV Series Could Still Happen, Says Showtime President Click To Tweet
We still do not know whether the series will be produced by Steven Spielberg, like was past mentioned. Spielberg has just finished his work on Ready Player One, which releases in March.
Other news to recently emerge about the Halo series, is that its creators 343 Studios, have hinted that, despite the long wait, there will be no big release of the highly-anticipated Halo 6 this year, with the game still well under production.
