Netflix will be hoping to strike gold with their upcoming adaptation of ‘The Witcher’ novels, and it seems the upcoming fantasy series is making good progress, as showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shows off the finished pilot script on Twitter.
Aside from the book series, The Witcher is best known for its video game series of the same name which released 3 titles: The Witcher, Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Netflix will attempt to make The Witcher the main show to fill the gap after HBO’s giant ‘Game Of Thrones’ concludes in 2019. GoT has caused many production companies to develop a new fantasy show in an attempt to get as much success. We’ve seen this so far with Amazon creating a ‘Lord of the Rings‘ show and Lionsgate beginning development of ‘The Kingkiller Chronicle‘ by Patrick Rothfuss, being produced with the creative touch of Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Kingkiller Chronicle is arguably the most anticipated of all, telling the incredible and compelling tale of the young life of a wizard named Kvothe.
As for The Witcher, we’ve had the producers, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown speak of the huge potential of the adaptation in a press release: “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”The Witcher: Showrunner Confirms The Pilot Script Is Completed Click To Tweet

Hissrich has been active on Twitter while working on the show, posting updated as she goes along, and recently took to the platform to tease fans of the completion of the pilot script, telling us ‘It’s been a big week’ and also posting an image of the script, which says End of pilot.
