The Vikings season 5 midseason finale brought us a huge brutal and intense battle which was filmed unlike any we’ve seen in the show so far. It wasn’t the battle that got fans talking the most though, it was the return of Rollo.
Vikings creator Michael Hirst recently teased what’s to come in the second half of season 5 of the show, including that Rollo return in the final scene.
The 65-year-old screenwriter revealed that the reason for the character’s return dates right back to season one, and has something to do with his relationship with Lagertha, and Ragnar’s relationship with Lagertha. He hints that there could be a massive twist, which could possibly be about Bjorn.
Michael Hirst told Express, “Like any other fan, I was thrilled to see Rollo sailing into the show, but he’s come back to deal with things which were never dealt with in the past.”
“We’re going back to season one here,” he said, “where there were huge questions about his relationship, and Ragnar’s relationship with Lagertha, and what had actually happened between them all – and frankly, whose son Bjorn was.”Vikings creator teases the 'Huge' Rollo return in Season 5B: Could Rollo be Bjorn's father? This brings up the question: Is Bjorn really Ragnar’s son? It’s possible that Rollo could be his father, and it would make for a potentially fantastic story-line. Michael Hirst spoke more on this subject, claiming that the reason Rollo sailed back is powerful stuff. He said, “The reason Rollo sailed back is to deal with things that have been on his mind for a long time, and it’s pretty powerful stuff, I must say.”
Hirst finished be teasing something big in episode 15, claiming the episode will blow our socks off. He said, “Season 5B is full of the most extraordinary twists and turns, and deep, deep emotional story-lines. We’ll just ask you to wait until you see episode 15, which will just tear your heart apart and blow your socks off.”
What do you think will happen in episode 15?
