‘The Walking Dead’ star Chandler Riggs has confirmed that he auditioned for some huge parts, including that of Spider-Man and Han Solo. He’s confirmed that he will audition for a lot more now he has no commitments with the AMC drama.
Chandler Riggs, who is best known for portraying Carl Grimes on AMC’s The Walking Dead since season one, is now finished on the zombie drama after his character was killed off following being bitten by a Walker in the show’s most controversial episode yet.
Following the hugely controversial finale, a lot has happened behind-the-scenes of the drama. We have seen The Walking Dead strike a season 9 renewal, with a brand new showrunner, with AMC taking bold moves and taking Scott Gimple away from that position and making him Chief Content Officer at AMC.
The new showrunner will be former co-executive producer Angela Kang, who was promoted into this position. Angela Kang joined in The Walking Dead writing staff in Season 2 as a Story Editor. She then went on to become co-Executive Producer by Season 5 till season 8. In season 9 she will act as showrunner. Chandler Riggs has revealed that he will not take a break from acting after having his job on TWD taken from him, far from it. Even when he was working on The Walking Dead, Riggs has revealed that he auditioned for the iconic role of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) in the 2017 movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was not offered the part as we know, with the job going to Tom Holland who is three years older than him.
Not only did he express his interest in the Marvel superhero, but he also auditioned to the also iconic role of Han Solo for the upcoming movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, a part that was offered to Alden Ehrenreich.
“I auditioned for Spider-Man. I auditioned for Han Solo, all those big movies.” Chandler Riggs told ComicBook. “I would love to do something like that. It would be awesome, especially now that I have a lot more free time, it would be really, really cool.”
It makes us wonder where we will see Chandler Riggs next now he is done with The Walking Dead. He is showing a great attitude for the future of his career and seems to be driven to get right out there and land a few huge roles.
