The Jason Borne franchise will soon take us to television for the first time, with a spin-off moving forward in development at the USA Network.
After a hugely successful run of movies on the big-screen, USA Network on now looking to expand the Jason Bourne franchise on the small-screen with a spin-off series which is moving forward in development, according to sources including Variety. Bourne was originally a character created by novelist Robert Ludlum in his books which inspired the movies which came later.
The Matt Damon movie franchise began way back in 2002 with The Bourne Identity, it continued with The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Bourne Legacy and most recently Jason Bourne which released two years ago in 2016. The latest movie gained mixed reviews, but still performed quite well at the Box Office with 415.5 million USD.
As for the spin-off series. While under development, USA Network have given it an initial name of Treadstone. The series follows new sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions. Tim Kring was the first crew member to be announced, who has signed up to write and executive produce. Kring is probably best known for the TV shows Heroes and Heroes Reborn. Signed up to direct is Rahmin Bahrani, who’s directing Fahrenheit 451, an upcoming Sci-Fi movie with Michael B. Jordan in the lead.
