ABC recently confirmed the much mooted speculation that their hit drama The Goldbergs would be given s spin-off show.
The news of ABC’s order for a Goldbergs spin-off was originally reported by Variety where they confirmed that the show will be set in the 1990s, a full decade after the setting of The Goldbergs. It looks to follow the teachers from William Penn Academy, Principal Glascott (Tim Meadows) , Coach Mellor (Bryan Callen) and Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka).
The spin-off currently comes short in terms of details. Over the next few months we’ll be learning a lot more about the story, cast and release dates. At the moment it seems the spin-off, which is currently untitled, looks set to release early 2019. This idea of a spin-off is actually something ABC have been chasing for a while, and it was a show they wanted to announce in May 2017 when an additional two seasons of The Goldbergs was announced.
Season 5 on The Goldbergs is currently airing on ABC and continuing the fantastic reviews its got in the past. A season 6 renewal has already been confirmed, and with a spin-off on the way it seems ABC might want to keep the drama, which first aired in 2013, on our screens for many years to come.
